Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an essential part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). As an essential part of TCM, acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin, metallic needles, (sometimes in conjunction with electrical stimulus), on some specific points (acupuncture points or acupoints) of the body’s surface. The extreme thinness of the needles ensures that little or no discomfort will be experienced during the treatment. At medical level, the insertion of these very fine needles on the acupoints influences the physiological functions of the body, cures the diseases and restores the health.

How does acupuncture work?

In Chinese medicine, it is believed that there is a universal life energy ‘Qi’ in every living creature and it works on it. This energy is circulating in regulated patterns throughout the body along specific pathways that are called ‘Meridians”. These meridians conduct the flow of the vital energy ‘Qi’. Acupuncture is the procedure of inserting and manipulating needles into various points on the body to relieve pain or for therapeutic purposes. This encourages the body to promote natural healing and to improve functioning.
What Are The Benefits Of Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is renowned for its ability to alleviate pain. By stimulating specific points on the body, acupuncture promotes the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers. It can effectively manage various types of pain, including chronic pain, headaches, back pain, and joint pain.

Acupuncture sessions provide a deeply relaxing experience that helps reduce stress and anxiety. The needles used in acupuncture stimulate the nervous system, leading to the release of tension and promoting a sense of calm and relaxation.

Many individuals struggle with sleep disturbances. Acupuncture can help regulate sleep patterns by promoting the production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for sleep. Regular acupuncture sessions can lead to better sleep quality and more restful nights.

Acupuncture can aid in improving digestive function. It can help alleviate symptoms of gastrointestinal disorders such as indigestion, bloating, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), promoting better digestion and absorption of nutrients.

Acupuncture has been shown to enhance the immune system's response. By promoting circulation and encouraging the body's natural defense mechanisms, acupuncture can help you maintain better overall health and resilience against illnesses.
Acupuncture can assist in regulating hormonal imbalances in the body. It's particularly beneficial for women's health concerns, including menstrual irregularities, fertility issues, and menopause symptoms.
